Course Overview
Biology Made Doable™ is a full-year high school biology course designed to make complex biological ideas clear and approachable for homeschool and independent learners.
Students progress through a series of online course modules that guide them step by step through each topic. These modules include explanations, diagrams, short videos, and interactive learning activities that help students build understanding gradually.
Throughout the course, students also engage with online tools and simulations, practice concepts through interactive activities, and review key ideas using games and formative checks.
As they work through each lesson, students record observations, answer questions, and complete investigations in their companion workbook. Hands-on labs using simple household materials are integrated throughout the course so students can observe biological processes directly.
Students may begin with a trial section to experience the structure of the course.
If the program is a good fit, they continue through Semester 1 and Semester 2, completing the work and artifacts needed for a full high school biology credit through their school or homeschool program.
Families who are ready to begin can also enroll directly in the full course.
What Students Do in Each Lesson
Each lesson in this course combines several learning activities to help students understand biological concepts from multiple angles.
Students regularly engage in:
• short guided readings
• structured note-taking and written responses
• hands-on laboratory investigations
• online simulations and activities
• review games and practice
• mastery checks to confirm understanding
This structure allows students to experience biology through observation, reasoning, and explanation rather than memorization alone.
Course 01Hands-On Labs
Hands-on investigation is an important part of learning biology. Throughout the course, students complete laboratory activities that allow them to observe biological processes and collect their own data.
Biology Made Doable™ labs are designed specifically for home and independent learning environments. Instead of requiring expensive laboratory kits, most investigations use simple materials that can be found at home or purchased from a grocery store.
Examples of investigations students complete include:
• observing diffusion using simple materials
• exploring how our body cells make more cells (mitosis)
• investigating homeostasis in our bodies
• modeling DNA structure
• analyzing ecosystem interactions and energy flow
These labs help students connect biological concepts to real observations while practicing scientific thinking such as making predictions, recording data, and explaining results.
Lab materials fit easily in a grocery bag, allowing families to complete investigations without purchasing specialized science kits.
Course 02Materials Needed
The curriculum is designed so families can complete the course without purchasing expensive laboratory kits or specialized equipment.
Students primarily need:
• a computer or Chromebook with internet access
• the Biology Made Doable™ student workbook
• the Teacher companion book
• basic household materials for laboratory investigations
Examples of materials used during the course include:
• plastic cups or small containers
• paper towels
• food coloring
• sugar and salt
• Skittles or similar candy
• yeast
• spinach leaves
• measuring spoons or cups
• string or rubber bands
Families obtain these simple materials themselves using common household items or inexpensive supplies from grocery stores or local retailers.

Biology Made Doable™ is offered as a full-year high school biology course.
Full Course Price:
$500 for the complete course (Semester 1 and Semester 2)
This includes:
• access to all online course modules
• the student workbook and companion materials
• hands-on lab investigations
• interactive activities and simulations
• mastery assessments throughout the course
Lab materials are not included with the course. Most investigations use simple household items or inexpensive supplies that families obtain themselves.
Trial Period
Families can start with a separate trial course that includes one complete section of Biology Made Doable™. This gives you a real experience of how the program works, including the lesson structure, student workflow, and overall learning approach.
The trial is a standalone product, not a temporary trial period. If it feels like a good fit, you can then purchase the full course for access to the complete program.
Charter School Purchases
Families using charter school funds should work with their learning coach to request approval for the course. Documentation for charter curriculum review is available upon request.
